After getting my B.A. in mathematics at Augsburg College, my career path has led me to teaching math at a couple of innovative charter schools, teaching mental health wellness at an organization in St. Paul, going to graduate school for mathematics at the University of North Dakota and then teaching math at a couple more superb charter schools.
Math has been a journey for me. There have been ups and downs. Mistakes and inspirations. Successes and challenges. It hasn’t always been easy for me, which is why I get where your kid is coming from.
I’m eager to meet you and your family and help you find ease and clarity when it comes to math.
10 Unique Things About Me
1. Dot journals. I love them! I discovered them in 2018 and have used them for planning my week, journaling about books I’ve read, keeping a list of movies I’d like to watch and many other things. 2. I play cards and other strategic games. My two current favorites are 500 and Love Letters but I also love Spades, Hearts, and Euchre. 3. I have collected quotes since I was in junior high. Quotes from my teachers, my favorite authors, various mathematicians, even my Grandma. 4. I was inspired through my 9th grade algebra teacher who was tough and said: “Let’s play the game today.” I assumed she was talking about doing algebra problems together. 5. I enjoy YouTube videos of XFactor Global, America’s Got Talent and Britain’s Got Talent. 6. I’m absolutely fascinated with the Enneagram! It’s a way to discover one’s personality and mathematics underlies the philosophy. 7. I’ve had three pets in my life: two golden retrievers, Webster and Hugo, and a cat, Gizmo. My girlfriend and I currently reside with Gizmo. 8. I traveled to the Netherlands, France, Spain and Italy in a 3 week trip right after college with my brothers. 9. I was in a sailboat race near International Falls, MN in 2002 even though I’ve never sailed. 10. My two favorite songs to dance to in high school were “Brick House” and “Dancing Queen.”
